Daily Dose is a good time. And that’s because its owners are a pretty good time too. Matt and JenLyn Long are the hard-working, fun-loving couple behind Daily Dose Midtown, Daily Dose Old Town, and Daily Dose Rio Salado.
The two met in the '90s in their hometown of Pittsburgh – in a restaurant, of course. At the time, JenLyn was a bartender and Matt was the cute new guy at the salad station. Matt, who graduated first in his class at culinary school, had a dream of opening his own restaurant before he turned 25 and JenLyn shared his passion. So a few years later, the two packed their bags and headed to Arizona in search of adventure.
In 2003, the Longs opened their first restaurant, Fusion, just a few months before Matt’s 25th birthday. After a successful seven-year run, the two decided to close the innovative restaurant to focus their abundant energy and passion on their new endeavor, Daily Dose – a spot where diners could enjoy delicious food in a fun environment at a fair price.
Daily Dose Old Town Bar & Grill opened on Scottsdale Road in 2008. Daily Dose Midtown on Highland Ave. followed in 2012, and Daily Dose Rio Salado opened in Tempe next to the Tempe Marketplace in 2020. Daily Dose has become known for its mouthwatering, made-from-scratch dishes like Cinnamon Roll Pancakes, Breakfast Nachos, Banana Bread French Toast, and the Hangover Sandwich – always a fan favorite when the Spring Training crowd hits Old Town.
The Longs are committed to fresh, flavorful, real food. That means no shortcuts. Don’t miss the Daily Dose Three-Berry Compote, which is made in-house daily, as are all the dressings and the flavorful turkey sausage. (Tip: If you want to buy extra to take home, just ask!) The coffee, which is found both on the menu and the complimentary coffee cart out front, is locally brewed at Coffee Roasters in Scottsdale, and bread comes from locally-owned Capistrano Bakery.
Gluten-free foodies are big fans of Daily Dose gluten-free pancakes and French toast. And while there are plenty of splurge-worthy items on the menu, diners looking for healthy breakfast and lunch items also have delicious options, such as the power bowl, peaches and cashew oats, tempeh burrito, and the egg white wrap, loaded with veggies and served with fruit.
Specialty cocktails like the Spicy Watermelon Margarita and Bacon Bloody Mary are made with care, using only the freshest ingredients, and unique spiked coffee drinks are a fun addition to the breakfast menu. Craft beer lovers will appreciate the wide assortment of brews, most of them local.
Daily Dose serves breakfast and lunch daily from 7 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Scottsdale and Midtown locations, and 7 a.m. - 2 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday at the Rio Salado location in Tempe. Daily Dose also offers an extensive catering menu, creating custom menus for groups from 10 to 500.
The Longs run their “urban mom and pop” restaurants with the attention to detail that only comes from a locally owned business with owners who truly care. Come enjoy a dose of delicious food and fun at Daily Dose Old Town, Daily Dose Midtown, and Daily Dose Rio Salado!
